Beijing: Israel is acting “beyond the limits of self-defense”

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday that Israeli actions in Gaza after the Hamas attack “exceed the limits of self-defense,” and the Israeli government must stop “collective punishment” of Gaza residents.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry statement on Sunday said that Wang told his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on Saturday that what “Israel is doing exceeds the limits of self-defense,” and its leaders must stop “collective punishment of the residents of Gaza.”

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi added that China believes that the historical injustice against Palestine, which has continued for more than half a century, cannot continue.

More than 1,300 people were killed following the attack launched by Hamas on Israel on October 7, while the Israeli response led to the killing of more than 2,329 people, including more than 700 children, in the Gaza Strip.
